Yakushima Island: Located in Kagoshima Prefecture, this island is home to thousands of year-old Yakusugi cedar trees. The island’s rich natural landscape is an attraction, and it is also registered as a World Heritage site.

Shiretoko: A peninsula in Hokkaido, Shiretoko offers dynamic natural scenery with sheer cliffs and virgin forests. It is also registered as a World Heritage site.

Cultural Heritage

Ancient Capital Cultural Properties of Kyoto and Nara: Kyoto and Nara are home to numerous historical temples and shrines. These ancient capitals retain a strong sense of traditional Japanese culture and are registered as World Heritage sites.

Himeji Castle: This beautiful castle is called Shirasagijo Castle. It is one of the 12 existing castle towers and is registered as a World Heritage site.

Horyu-ji Temple: The world’s oldest wooden structure and a symbol of Japanese Buddhist culture. It is also registered as a World Heritage site.

Atomic Bomb Dome: This is the building in Hiroshima City that was exposed to the atomic bomb at the time of the bombing. It is registered as a World Heritage site as a valuable document that conveys the tragedy of war.
